Decided to do a shoot?.. Finally!... 5 Easy to follow steps

So after reading Why Should I do a Photo Shoot you have decided to have a shoot done and you are probably wondering, "whats next?"

Here we go...

STEP 1: Why do you want a shoot? Is their a particular reason? A milestone? Just to feel sexy? To rediscover yourself? Are you attending an event? In having an answer to these questions or at the very least some sort of inclination will go a long way in deciding what concept you may want to apply to your shoot. Concept, framework, type of shoot etc

STEP 2: Find a photographer. This may not be as simple as you may think. Depending on the nature or concept of your shoot you may want to find a photographer whose skill set is strongest in that area. Why does that photographer appeal to you. Has the photographer done a lot of work in that area of photography? Meet with your photographer before the shoot. Have a discussion around your expectations, ensure that this is someone you would feel comfortable working with you.

STEP 3: Select a Make Up Artist (MUA). Given the concept of the shoot similarly find a MUA that accurately reflects that. Some do great a bridal make but not so great at carnival make up. Others may do seamless make up that blends nicely with your skin tone other may not be as comfortable working with your skin tone. In all be sure to find what works for you.

STEP 4: Clothes! What are you going to wear to the shoot? How many different looks are you going for? A discussion should have been had with the photographer as to the different looks. Some photographers may charge as per the different look. Others may charge per hr. Be sure that expectations are met and both parties are on the same page. Additionally be sure that what you are wearing is something that you would be comfortable wearing in front your photographer.


STEP 5: This is the most important step. HAVE FUN!! .. That inner baddest ... oppps sorry I meant DIVA or Mr GQ that you have always wanted to showcase. Now is the time. All the looks that you have been practicing in the mirror and with the million "selfies", this is the time to have your photographer capture the true essence of it. Love yourself... who you are and the skin that you are in. Bring out the supermodel in you! We all have that measure of "vanity" in us.. this is your time to SHINE!!!
